Supervisors have important responsibilities for understanding and managing the resources available to them in execution of their organization’s mission. The most important of these resources is their workforce. Understanding the demographics of the workforce and how it compares to other organizations can provide valuable insight into the “health” of an organization and help the manager plan human capital strategies to maintain and/or improve the future viability of their organization. Access to workforce data can also assist the manager in tactical planning including hiring, training and recognition.
