Detail

Detail – A temporary assignment of an employee in increments of no more than 120 days to a different position or set of duties. Details to higher graded positions or to a position with greater promotion potential for more than 120 days must be advertised via a vacancy announcement.

To a classified position

In addition to submitting an SF-52 through FPPS, the following paperwork is required:
  • Position Description or Position Description number if already on file

To an unclassified set of duties

In addition to submitting an SF-52 through FPPS, the following paperwork is required:
  • Statement of Duties (brief list of major duties)

Note: If the detail involves an employee from another directorate, the HRMS will obtain the losing Director’s of concurrence/signature.

Timeframe:  Paperwork due in Code 113 one (1) pay period prior to effective date.  Details are effective at the beginning of a pay period unless otherwise specified.
