New Supervisor's Curriculum

Transition Meeting with Staff

Overview: This session provides an opportunity for the new supervisor to communicate and clarify his/her expectionas for the work unit. It also allows an opportunity for the members of the work group to identify issues, questions and concerns about the unit or the new supervisor. This process assists both the supervisor and the work group in the supervisory transition, which establishes a strong foundation for the development of their relationships.

Other: The Office of Leadership and Organziation Development will recommend that they facilitate this process. However, the new supervisor could conduct this session using the framework and tools for the session that will be provided in the Transition to Supervisor session. In addition, the supervisor will be given guidance on key issues and questions that should be clearly understood between him/her and his/her direct supervisor.
