NASA Automated Awards System (NAAS)

NASA is undertaking many efforts to streamline Agency-wide processes and reduce costs. These efforts include the creation of the NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) and the deployment of NAAS, the new agency-wide automated awards system. As the Agency-wide awards system, NAAS will be utilized by the NSSC and NASA Awards Offices to provide centralized and timely awards support to all NASA Centers.

The NAAS and NSSC initiatives are coordinating efforts to make the transition seamless for NASA employees. As the NSSC plans to take over the awards support functionality of NASA, the NAAS Awards Team is assisting them in planning, training and reviewing processes. Also, representatives from NSSC have been involved in making NAAS configuration and process decisions. The goal of both efforts is to minimize the impact to employees and first line supervisors.

Implementation of NAAS and NSSC will help NASA supervisors take advantage of expanded awards capability. Through NAAS, NASA supervisors will be able to request awards online, review the status of submitted awards, and get automated notices when awards are approved or disapproved. The awards processes will be easily tracked and documented using NAAS.

Implementation of NAAS and NSSC will reduce the amount of time spent on non-mission related activities. Once the transitions to NAAS and NSSC have been made, employees, supervisors and managers can expect high levels of awards information and access to support their organizational awards programs, while minimizing the expenditure of NASA resources.
